Theater des Lachens – Republika marzeń

To co jest szczególnie fascynujące dla nas, to fantastyczne, groteskowe elementy literatury Schulza. Symbolizm, tajemniczość i poetyckość wymuszają na nas użycie  niecodziennych środków teatralnych. „Utrata” dzieciństwa w „Sklepach z cynamonowych” to naprawdę mocny temat w powieści Schulza. Historia ojca, który najpierw zamienia się w ptaka, a następnie przechodzi przez różne metamorfozy, zanim skurczy się i całkowicie zniknie, można przedstawić tylko za pomocą lalek. I wynikający z tego pomysł, że we wszystkim jest „ktoś”, jest oczywiście genialny dla teatru lalek. Pragnienie narratora, by wszystko zostało tak, jak jest, pomimo nadchodzącego nowego świata i nieuchronnych zmian, które ze sobą niesie,  to temat, który zawsze będzie nas zajmował.

The fantastic, grotesque elements of Schulz’s literature fascinate us particularly. The symbolism, mystery and poeticism force us to use unusual theatrical means. „Loss” of childhood in „The Cinnamon Shops” is a really strong theme in Schulz’s novel. The story of a father who first turns into a bird and then goes through various metamorphoses before shrinking and disappearing completely can only be portrayed through puppets. An idea resulting from that story, that there is „someone” in everything is, of course, brilliant for puppet theater. The narrator’s desire for everything to remain as it is, despite the new world coming and the inevitable changes it brings is a theme that will always occupy us.
