Lalki patrzą na nas

Co budzi w człowieku lalka, która jest zawieszona?Jeśli zawieszona jest na żyłce w pozie to jest tylko obrazem. Gdyby miała pętlę na szyi, byłaby poza swoją żywotnością i znakiem sytuacji tragicznej. Niebo w naszej religii zagospodarowane jest duszami. Lalki budują pewną metaforę wartości etycznej, estetycznej, kultury i życia człowieka. W tej formie tkwi siła. Poprzez skojarzenia człowiek widzi swój wzór i formę.

Lalka podwieszona zawiera w sobie wachlarz możliwości ruchowych. Jest bezradna i gotowa na wszystko. Oddaje emocje i nastroje, nie poddając się nim. Nie udaje rycerza, kłamcy, zdrajcy, kochanka, po prostu jest tym, kogo przedstawia. Po zagraniu roli czeka na wieszaku na następne przedstawienie – z tą samą gotowością. I to jest podwójna prawda lalki. Etyka lalki obiektywnie jest zawsze czysta, choćby ona sama grała najgorszego potwora. Bywa podmiotem sytuacji, wspomaga dialog, manewruje akcją. Jest partnerem aktora, bohaterem scenicznym. Wehikułem czasu, inicjuje wspomnienia. Symbolem, gdy trzeba pobudzić lub uspokoić emocje.

Lalka otrzymuje pełnię swego „życia” w akcie kreacji. Zostaje obdarzona losem. Animacja to za mało, by gra miała wyraz artystyczny. Ożywianie – zajęcie czasochłonne, wymagające intensywnej pracy – to zaledwie krok na długiej drodze na szczyty artyzmu gry lalką.

Animacja sama w sobie może być tylko kuglarstwem, ciekawostką: ot po prostu zdolny animator ujawnia swoje możliwości animacyjne, zadziwia umiejętnością ożywienia przedmiotu. By tak nie było, konieczne jest pójście dalej, wykonanie następnych kroków. Przede wszystkim, zanim lalka teatralna w ogóle powstanie, należy rozważyć możliwości tkwiące w jej przyszłej roli. W wyglądzie lalki zapisana jest jej estetyka i wyraz psychologiczny. Reszta to myśl, wyobrażenie, talent, praca artysty.

Prezentowana wystawa jest dopełnieniem metafory naszego świata, gdzie dobro i zło ścierają się ze sobą. Została zbudowana z lalek znajdujących się w zbiorach Teatru Lalki i Aktora w Łomży.

Puppets are watching us

What does a hanging puppet evoke in a human? If it hangs on a string in a pose, it’s merely an image. If it had a noose around its neck, it would be a lifeless symbol of a tragic situation. Heaven in our religion is filled with souls. Puppets create a certain metaphor of culture, life as well as ethical and aesthetical values. That form holds great strength. It is associations that make a human see his own shape and form.

A hanging puppet has a myriad of movement possibilities. It is helpless and ready for anything. It reflects mood and emotions without being subjected to them. It does not pretend to be a knight, a liar, a traitor or a lover – it just becomes what it represents. When its part is over, it just waits on a hanger for another show, ready as always. And this is the duality of truth behind a puppet. Its ethics is always objectively pure, no matter what kind of monster it embodies. A puppet may be the main hero, it can support dialogue or manipulate the plot. It is a stage entity partnering the actor. It is a time vehicle that evokes memories, and a symbol when it needs to stir or diffuse emotions.

A puppet is fully brought to 'life’ in the act of creation. It is endowed with faith. Animation alone is not enough for the performance to have an artistic expression. Bringing to life – a time-consuming and work-intensive task that is only one step to truly master puppetry.
Animation alone may be just amusing trickery: a talented puppeteer simply reveals his amazing skills to animate an object. For it not to be so, we must take a few steps forward. First of all, before the puppet is even created, we must consider the possibilities of its future role. The appearance holds its aesthetics and psychological profile, with the rest being an idea, creativity, talent and work of the artist.

The exhibition complements a metaphor of our world, where good and evil battle each other. It features puppets from the collection of the Puppet and Actor Theatre in Łomża.
